The Belgian Association of Asset Managers (bearing the name of Belgian Asset Managers Association, abbreviated: BEAMA) was established on March 25, 2004 by the merger of the Belgian Association of Collective Investment Organizations. (ABOPC) and the 'Belgian Association of Managers and Fortune Investment Advisers (ABGC).
The ABOPC was created in 1958 in the form of de facto association. The ABGC, it was created in 1993 in the form of non-profit institutions and is in liquidation since December 2003. The General Assembly of 25 March 2004 has extended the statutes and objectives of the ABOPC, changed the name Belgian Association of Investment Agencies collective Belgian Association of Asset Managers and approved the membership of a ABGC the new association.
