With the Act on Investment Funds passed at the end of 1991, the possibility opened for establishing investment funds in Hungary, a vehicle enjoying considerable popularity in contries with more developed financial cultures. The participants of the market, the Hungarian investment fund management companies decided at the end of 1993 to establish the Association of Fund Management Companies in Hungary with the purpose of representing their common interests.
